Australia's skilled migration program awards points for English proficiency. IELTS General Training is the most widely used test, and CELPIP is now also accepted by the Department of Home Affairs. Higher English scores can add up to 20 points.

Key difference from Canada: Australia's points test is separate from the English threshold. You get baseline eligibility at Competent (6.0), but no bonus points. The real advantage comes at Proficient (7.0) and Superior (8.0), which add 10 and 20 points respectively.
