Canadian citizenship applicants aged 18 to 54 must demonstrate CLB 4 in Listening and Speaking. The CELPIP-General LS (the two-skill version) is the most common choice. Here's what you need to know.
CLB 4 in Listening and Speaking. No Reading or Writing requirement for citizenship. This is lower than Express Entry (CLB 7) and easier to achieve.
CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking only, ~1 hour), IELTS General Training (full test, results used for L and S only), approved government-funded language program certificates, or secondary/post-secondary transcripts in English or French.
If citizenship is your only goal, the CELPIP-General LS is shorter and cheaper. But if you may also need scores for future applications (spousal sponsorship, Express Entry), consider taking the full CELPIP-General, it covers citizenship and PR requirements in one sitting.
